koalas used to cross here

Commissioned by Animals with Attitude 2015,  Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation

Sign: steel road sign, vynal
Sculpture: fibreglass, paint

This work began as a road sign and was adapted for a sculpture.

The painted flowers and leaves are Lantana, an introduced invasive weed of “National Significance”.  It rapidly takes over native bushland and threatens ecosystems and Koala food habitat. The imitation road signs represent a future world with no Koalas.  Imagine that.

Exhibited on the Surfers Paradise foreshore then purchased by Timezone Surfers Paradise. Fiberglass work by others.
